Gene Autry Roundup - 1936 (Matt)
I am very proud to own the 1936 concert size round up guitar, a testament to Harmony that they really did make some great guitars.
It must have hardly been played since it was made, only a few splits and hardly any wear. Being a concert size, it is a slightly
bigger guitar with 14 fretts clear of the body, unlike most of the others which have 12.
As part of the restoration on this guitar, the back was removed along with the original bracing from the sound board, new bracings
were made in an X pattern, and the back was refitted. The guitar was refretted with 6190 frett wire, the bridge was replaced with a
replica of the original so that the saddle could be intoned correctly. The original machine heads were still in great condition, so they
remained. Being a bigger guitar, it is set up with 12 - 54 gauge strings and also fitted is an LR Bagg element transducer to finish off.
All in all, a beautiful instrument, acoustic and electric, a real joy to play.
